What is Islamic Studies?
Islamic Studies is the academic and spiritual study of Islam, and one of the world’s major religions, with a Muslim population exceeding 1.8 billion people across the globe. It covers the foundations of the faith, the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Quran, Hadith, Islamic law, Islamic history, and the rich cultural impact of Muslims throughout the centuries.
At its core, Islamic Studies assist a young or old Muslim to understand why they believe what they believe, how to practise their religion correctly, and what it means to live a life centred on Allah.
For kids, Islamic Studies introduces key concepts in a simple, relatable way:
- Who is Allah? – Understanding God, His names, and His relationship with creation
- Who was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)? – The final messenger, his life in Mecca, his character, and his teachings
- What is the Quran? – The First ayah of Quran, revealed through the first revelation to the Prophet
- What do Muslims believe? – The six articles of faith, including belief in God, His Prophets, His Books, the angels, the Day of Judgment (Qiyāmah), and divine predestination
- How do Muslims worship? – Prayer, fasting, charity, and pilgrimage
Islamic Studies is not just a subject. It is a way of life.
Why is Learning Islamic Studies Important?
In a world that moves fast and pulls children in many directions, grounding a child in Islamic teachings gives them something no school subject can’t, whether a sense of identity, purpose, and moral clarity.
Here is why learning Islamic Studies online matters deeply.
Builds Faith on Logics
Many children grow up performing acts of worship without knowing why. Islamic Studies replaces blind routine with genuine faith. A child who understands why Muslims pray five times a day will guard their daily prayers far more consistently than one who was simply told to.
Connects Child to the Quran
The Quran is the central text of Islam the direct word of Allah. Learning to understand its meaning, even at a basic level, transforms a child’s relationship with the Book they recite. Scholars across Islamic history have always emphasised that understanding the Quran is as important as reading it.
Teaches Building Chracther
Islamic stories for kids drawn from the lives of the Prophets, the companions, and key figures in Islamic history are among the most powerful tools for moral education. These are not fairy tales. They are real accounts of real human beings who faced real tests, and how faith in Allah carried them through.
Anchors Identity in a Multicultural World
Muslim children growing up in diverse environments often face questions about their religion, their culture, and their community. Islamic Studies gives them the language and the confidence to answer those questions — not defensively, but with knowledge and pride.
Prepares Children for a Lifetime of Worship
Islam is a complete way of life. The one who know the principles of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), the role of the mosque in community life, the meaning of Eid al-Adha, and the spiritual significance of pilgrimage (Hajj) gives children a map for living from childhood through adulthood.
Connects Learners to a Living Tradition
Tafseer has been passed down through generations of scholars. By enrolling in an online Quran Tafseer course, you become a part of that unbroken chain connecting to a tradition of knowledge that has shaped Muslim civilisation for centuries.
